Welcome back everyone. Now I'm sure there are some people very confused by my choice of title today. We're going to be discussing Elon Musk, who announced on Saturday night that he is Autistic.
Is he diagnosed? We don't know. It's very possible he's self-diagnosing, though there's nothing wrong with that *when you admit you're self-diagnosing*
Now I'm sure some people are asking what the problem is with Elon Musk being Autistic? Well, browsing Twitter today & yesterday has yielded some interesting results.
Instantly after he announced this, he was trending on Twitter alongside the term Asperger's (a term previously used to describe level 1 Autism which was removed due to associations with Nazi scientist Hans Asperger, who discovered the condition.)
Now for those of you who don't know, Elon Musk is one of the richest men in the world, running the premium electric car company Tesla & the private spaceflight & satellite company SpaceX. He is also heavily involved in manipulating the market of "cryptocurrencies" - a form of money that is purely stored within computers.
unfortunately, as many autistic people predicted, he was quick to start using this information to begin setting himself up a future legal defense. Within hours of making the information public on Saturday Night Live, he had already made claims that are very blatantly designed to set himself up for legal defense, since he is frequently getting into trouble for endangering human lives with his employees, endangering the environment through cryptocurrencies (a singular cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin will use more power in one day than the entirety of America) & so much more.

This isn't an image the Autistic community is interested in associating with. As someone else on Twitter put it: "another rich white guy isn't going to change anything for this community, especially not Elon Musk."
Unfortunately though, Musk has a cult following online due to his ability to influence the cryptocurrency markets, so any time an Autistic voice speaks up, once again, we're getting shut down by NTs who feel they know better & have the right to tell us we're wrong about our own condition.
At this point, it ceases to surprise me. Autistic people celebrate the end of a month meant to be about helping us, we're really at the end of our tether with all of the Allistic Saviours who think they know better. (Allistic Saviour - a neurotypical or non-autistic person who believes they are "giving a voice to the voiceless" or anything of the sort, often suppressing Autistic voices in the process)
well, that's my opinion on the matter, as per usual, anything said here is NOT an attempt to speak for an entire community, but entirely my own opinion on the matter. I am a singular Autistic person & I do not speak for the entire community any more so than anyone else does.
Stay safe everyone,
- Josh.
